We want to see as you see, feel as you feel and know as you know.
Julian of Norwich is, perhaps, the greatest apostle of the love of God ever to write in the English language. She is, in fact, likely the first person ever to write a spiritual/theological document in English.
In her Showings, also called Revelations of Divine Love, Julian shares and reflects on her visions and spiritual illuminations that occurred in a three-day period in 1373. Her heart speaks as profoundly today as ever. Obscured and largely forgotten through the centuries, new translations and explorations of her thought now appear every year, inviting many thousands into the depth of God’s transforming love.
Julian, Teach Me To See is a guided silent retreat that will consist of three short talks, sharing and reflecting on Julian’s words. Time for personal reflection, prayer and journaling will follow each talk.
Primary topics include:
· Teach me to see my world
· Teach me to see Jesus
· Teach me to see myself
A brief musical reflection from Light in Deepest Night, a cantata based on Julian’s words, will set a contemplative tone for each of these three talks, which will touch on God’s courteous, familiar, intimate love; prayer and meditation; our greatest need and spiritual malady; God’s longing for us and our longing for God; and the presence of Christ in our souls.
